Post 1: Initial Response
You have the opportunity to attend a conference for professional development in your area of expertise and you want to submit a request (prior to the conference) for the expenses to be covered by your employer. Conference expenses include the following:
- Airfare or mileage from the region where you live to St. Louis, MO
- Three nights in a hotel in downtown St. Louis, MO (close to America’s Convention Center Complex)
- Taxi fare from the airport to your hotel and from your hotel back to the airport (either Uber or Lyft)
- One dinner and one breakfast (all other meals are included in the conference)
- Conference fee – $350
Go online and find costs for the bulleted items above and calculate a grand total (including the conference fee) for your trip. Include details for each of your calculations.

Post 2: Reply to a Classmate
Find a classmate’s post and view it from a supervisor’s perspective. Do you feel that the total cost provided by your classmate is reasonable, or do they need to find ways to cut costs for this trip? What do you feel would be a reasonable amount to allocate for reimbursement for this employee?

Post 3: Reply to Another Classmate
Find a thread in the Discussion Board that you find interesting and join the conversation by replying to a post. Post several sentences on this topic that are thoughtful and advance the discussion mathematically.
