Item 1
Summarize your selected topic’s historical origins and evolution
The development of the prison condition can be described as a bittersweet experiment. It will be good to note the impact of the change and the possible implications. Before 1950, the prison conditions were not good; the inmates were caged and chained in closets (Chen et al., 2019). They were half naked, and these mental issues did not get attention or medication. Even though the mental asylum came in 1800, the condition took a long to improve. In the 1960s, the standard theory explained the option of oppression created or created a large number of offenders (Chen et al., 2019). In the 1970s, things got worse; there was mass incarceration. More people went behind bars for non-violent crimes and more. In 2008, the prisons in the United States reported a high population leading to overcrowding and poor condition because of underfunding (Chen et al., 2019).
