CX 3002 Correction Philosophy and Theory Answer

Assignment: Correction Philosophy & Theory

Item 1

(i) What biological, psychological, or social factors could be used to explain the case study offender’s criminal background? What theories might account for the offender’s behavior? (250 words)

Various factors can cause deviant behavior in a community; it will be good to note how these actors can connect to the specific behavior people develop. If one is from a particular unsafe community, they can develop defiant behavior because of what they see in the neighborhood and community (Darjee & Baron, 2018). The family that one grew up in is another very crucial element. Jimmy faces the fate of these two factors the violent environment and family background. He grew up in a family that did not have much love, and the father was violent and a drug addict. Suppose a child grows up in a community they do not feel safe. In that case, it can affect their psychological development, and others try to get involved in criminal activities because that is what they grew up seeing. Therefore, interaction and adoption have played a critical role in developing the crime problem witnessed in this case.
