NR500 NP Week 3 discussion: Person-Centred Care

NR500 NP Week 3 discussion. This week’s topic focused on caring and reflective practice in contemporary nursing. In your initial response, provide a definition of what person-centred care means to you. Describe how you will apply principles holistic nursing, cultural humility, and self-reflection in your future role as a nurse practitioner.

NR500 NP Week 3 discussion Answer

Patient-centered care is a fundamental concept in nursing, emphasizing an approach that prioritizes individual patient needs, values, and goals. It places the patient at the center of the care process, necessitating nurses to prioritize the well-being of the patient over their own. The evolving landscape of healthcare systems has brought about significant changes, challenging nurses to continually improve care coordination, enhance quality and safety, and reduce healthcare spending through evidence-based nursing care models (DeNisco & Barker, 2015).

As I progress to becoming a nurse practitioner, this journey equips me with an advanced knowledge, attitude, and skill set for health promotion, emphasizing care coordination, patient-centered/holistic care, quality improvement, and proficiency in data analytics.
