CE215 Unit 10 Discussion Using Your Knowledge As this course comes to an end, you have many things to think about that involve curriculum planning. The course has focused on the importance of using developmentally appropriate activities to guide and support young children. The easiest way to think about DAP is to remember the message from Goldilocks and the Three Bears. You want to include activities that are not too hard (difficult), not too soft (easy), but ones that are just right. In addition, fostering relationships with parents and the community will help you understand the children in your setting. Creating an environment that is safe, nurturing, and provides opportunities for all children to learn based on their needs, interests, and dominant learning style is essential. This environment will have opportunities for both educator-centered instruction and child-centered learning and will be structured around play (which helps children grow and develop in all five developmental domains).

Hello, Professor and Classmates,
Hard to believe that our time together has come to an end. I have learned so much over these past 10 weeks and have gained new insight on how to best help young children learn and grow using developmentally appropriate practices.
I learned a lot of excellent techniques and strategies to apply in my early childhood center to best help young children grow. Two things I have taken away from this course are 1. The importance/benefits of child-directed – play-based learning and 2. The overall structure and setting of a classroom environment……….
