For this discussion, please respond to the following:
- Identify a culture that varies from your own, and describe two strategies you can use to improve your communication with individuals from that culture.
This discussion is worth 30 points, and the rubric that will be used to grade your discussion participation is available from the Grading Rubrics page under Course Resources.
There is an expectation that you visit the discussion multiple times during the week. Your posts should be proofread and written in an academic tone. Be sure to respond to questions that others ask you in the discussion forum.

I am American, born and raised. We have “our” way of doing things and probably not until my children starting attending their public charter school four years ago did I really give much thought to the fact that the American culture is so different from those such as the Chinese culture.
One thing that stands out to me about the Chinese culture is the way they see their elders, such as their mothers, fathers, or grandparents. They place them on a pedestal and have extreme respect and dignity for them. Whereas in the American culture the mothers, fathers, or grandparents are just seen as another member of the family, and while they are respected, I don’t think all of us in the American culture take as much pride as those in the Chinese culture……………
