CRJ303 Week 4 – Discussion 2 Issues for Alternative Sentencing and for Community Corrections
Prior to beginning work on this discussion, review a state’s department of corrections Twitter (Links to an external site.) You can consider any of the Twitter pages for state correctional departments in the Recommended Resources for this week, or you can do an Internet search to locate a specific state’s department of corrections Twitter page. The Twitter page must be the official account of that state department of corrections. For example, you could explore Tweets from one of the Twitter pages listed in the resource list for Week 4, or you could review a state’s department of corrections’ Twitter page of your choosing. Select a Tweet and explain how its content relates to a social justice and criminal justice issue for alternative sentencing and for community corrections. As noted before, your textbook Chapter 7 is a helpful reference for alternatives sanctions (alternatives to incarceration) that may be implemented.
Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ posts. Respond to at least two of them by Day 7. Your responses should be substantive and should expand on how your peers address either a social justice or criminal justice issue in community corrections and be at least 100 words in length. Recommend ways to extend their thinking. Remember to follow netiquette when responding to classmates. Information regarding netiquette can be found under the Course Home tab in the About Discussions section. Continue to monitor the discussion forum by 11:59 p.m. on Day 7 of the week and respond robustly to anyone who replies to your initial post.
