When studying human behavior, it is clear that there are several factors that influence a person’s behavior. The most effective perspective for social workers to use is the biopsychosocial perspective. The three main dimensions within are biophysical, psychological, and social. Biophysical refers to the client’s physical growth and development. The psychological dimension looks at the client’s ability to process information and cognitive development. The social dimension includes the client’s relationships and support systems. (Williams, 2017). Understanding the biopsychosocial perspective is just the first step to being able to assess an incoming client.
