HN144 Unit 7 Discussion Biological and Psychological Changes and Impact in Young/Emerging Adulthood
Biological and Psychological Changes and Impact in Young/Emerging Adulthood
Young adulthood covers the time period between 23 to 39 years of age. The challenges associated with this transition stage of life have led to the development of a stage of life now referred to as emerging adulthood. In this stage, a variety of changes occur physically, psychologically, and socially. To prepare for this discussion, review “Exhibit 8.1: Levinson’s eight stages of adult development” (found on page 351 in your text).
Please respond to the following:
- Identify which life stage you are in and discuss if it is accurate to your present life circumstances. Why or why not?
- Discuss three of the mental health hazards and risks that those in emerging adulthood may encounter in this stage of life and describe interventions that can be offered by a human service professional to help them cope with these mental health challenges.
- Describe three of the key environmental influences that can impact relationship development among those in emerging adulthood.

HN144 Unit 7 Discussion Biological and Psychological Changes and Impact in Young/Emerging Adulthood Answer
At 22 I am a bit at an odd place for discussing my life stage because I turn 23 in August (sometimes away) I guess I would not be considered a young adult yet according to the book. I am in between the stages of adolescence and young adulthood. I feel that this transition would be very accurate to my present life, this more so emerging adulthood not being neither adolescent nor young adult (Arnett, 2014b). I am living at home (not my parents’ home but my partners) while we work on getting our degrees. This change makes me feel like I am not quite an adult, but I do work and financially support myself, which alternatively does make me feel like an adult. Therefore, I too would respond the same way to the question if I felt I had reached adulthood “In some respects yes, in some respects no.” (Ashford, 2017)………….
