The chosen concept is caring, supported by Jean Watson’s theory of caring.
Definition of the Concept:
In the realm of nursing, caring entails the provision of attention, empathy, and compassion to individuals incapable of self-care, such as the sick, elderly, and young children (Cook & Peden, 2017).
Three Attributes of the Caring Concept:
Caring encompasses several attributes, with action, attitude, and the therapeutic relationship being prominent. Action involves the procedural aspects of care delivery, encompassing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and documentation. A positive attitude contributes to care delivery by bolstering care providers’ self-confidence, resilience, commitment, courage, and self-love. The therapeutic relationship involves an open, mutually respectful, trusted, and honest connection between caregivers and care recipients (Cook & Peden, 2017).
