Reference Kearns, A. D., Caglia, J. M., ten Hoope‐Bender, P., & Langer, A. (2016)
Purpose To review successes and challenges of Antenatal Care (ANC) and Postnatal Care (PNC) delivery models globally, discuss lessons learned, and make recommendations for future programs.
Research Method Systematic literature review.
Participants Eight case study articles covering different ANC and PNC care delivery approaches in urban and rural settings at various healthcare facilities, mainly in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
Data Collection Reviewed a variety of ANC and PNC programs using peer-reviewed articles obtained systematically from databases like PubMed, POPLINE, MEDLINE, and Google Scholar.
Study Findings Identified factors enabling quality care and challenges facing maternal care.
Limitations The case study sample used was not comprehensive, and the care models included were not rigorously evaluated, making systematic review of experiences impossible.
