This course has significantly expanded my knowledge, particularly in the realms of nursing research and evidence-based practice. I now possess a more nuanced understanding of various research methods, including qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method approaches. Qualitative research delves into the depth of people’s experiences, perspectives, and attitudes, employing non-numeric data. In contrast, quantitative research relies on numerical data, analyzed through mathematical and statistical methods. Mixed-methods research integrates both qualitative and quantitative elements (Grove, Gray, & Faan, 2019).
The course has underscored the intrinsic link between nursing research and evidence-based practice (EBP). While nursing research endeavors to generate new knowledge or validate existing knowledge, EBP strategically employs this knowledge to identify optimal practices for enhancing patient outcomes. This integrated understanding equips me with a comprehensive foundation, fostering a more informed and effective approach to nursing research and evidence-based practice.
