NR512 Week 8: Reflection Answer
As this course concludes, it is evident that I have acquired a diverse set of informatics skills that will significantly shape my nursing practice. The completion of assignments and projects, such as the e-portfolio and virtual learning experiences, has enabled me to seamlessly integrate informatics into my professional sphere. My initial knowledge of nursing informatics was limited, but through these activities, I now feel well-equipped with a broad range of skills in this field. Throughout the course, my exploration of telehealth as a health topic has underscored the crucial role it plays in enhancing access to primary care.
Telehealth, as elucidated in my studies, offers a convenient avenue for patients to access healthcare services remotely, whether from the comfort of their homes, offices, or schools (Mehrotra et al., 2019). Notably, it provides a cost-effective alternative to traditional primary care, eliminating the need for patients to incur travel expenses to meet healthcare providers. However, despite these advantages, there are considerations and challenges associated with the implementation of telehealth that warrant further exploration.
In the evolving landscape of healthcare, the integration of telehealth demands careful consideration of ethical, legal, and practical aspects to ensure its seamless incorporation into nursing practice. By addressing these considerations, healthcare professionals can harness the full potential of telehealth to enhance patient care and accessibility. As I move forward in my nursing career, these newfound informatics skills, especially in telehealth, will undoubtedly contribute to providing more effective and patient-centric care.
