Nr532 Quality of Healthcare Answer
New Patient Care Model and Goals
Enhancing the quality and safety of patient care is integral to the organizational and professional healthcare approach. Various care delivery models, such as the task method, primary nursing, team nursing, and total patient care, have been developed to guide the delivery of care (Eisenstat et al., 2017).Nr532 Quality of Healthcare
While each model has its merits and drawbacks, the modern approach of person-centered care views the patient holistically. This paper aims to explore the transition from total patient care to team nursing, focusing on two patient safety goals. The discussion includes key concepts of the new model and supporting evidence.Nr532 Quality of Healthcare
In the conventional total-patient care model, a single nursing practitioner is assigned a team of patients without continuity of understanding as shifts change. This model presents challenges, including poor patient outcomes and inconsistent care (King, Long, & Lisy, 2015).Nr532 Quality of Healthcare
To address these issues, the adoption of a team nursing model is proposed, described as a group-based approach that fosters collaborative care, promotes continuous communication among healthcare professionals, ensures comprehensive patient understanding across shifts, and enhances overall care consistency and effectiveness. This model encourages shared responsibility and expertise utilization within the team, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes and a more robust framework for delivering quality healthcare services.
