The significance of effective communication extends to promoting satisfaction among both staff and patients, influencing service delivery and overall quality outcomes (Foronda, MacWilliams, & McArthur, 2016). However, in my healthcare institution, I encountered an instance of ineffective communication between a nurse and a nursing leader.

Initially, the communication started in a formal manner, but as the conversation progressed, it transitioned into verbal communication. The primary topic of discussion revolved around challenges related to shift scheduling. The nurse expressed dissatisfaction with the shift schedule, perceiving it as inappropriately adjusted, contrary to the nurse’s expectations.

This situation underscores the critical role of effective communication in addressing staff concerns and ensuring alignment between expectations and organizational practices.
