Children with special needs should be able to play and learn the same as children with no disabilities. But making it easy for these children may not be so easy. Using assistive technology to help children with special needs is one way of helping these children learn and play. An early childhood educator could use a computerized Braille system for the child who is blind (Allen, 2014). A child with ADHD would benefit by having a few toys to choose from instead of a larger assortment. Some children learn more using tablets or computers so I would try to have those things available. There are several good learning sites for children, like ABC Mouse. Having these items, children can play games while learning. Children with special needs require the educator to adapt things to include that child. Playing simple games like duck, duck, and goose may not be feasible for the child in a wheelchair. But it could be adapted to include them……
