In her poem “Blessed Are The Poor in Spirit”, Alice Walker notes “…we join with others

And, in spirit, feel the world, and suffering, the same as them (Walker, 26). This means understanding the pain of others as our own. This poem reminds us we have the responsibility of speaking against what is wrong. According to Balousha, et al, more than 200 Palestinians including 59 children have died from the Palestinian and Israel wars within the last one month. The US through President Biden is working to have a ceasefire. However, the article notes that there is no definite deadline for a ceasefire.

The war between the two nations ignite serious discussions on who is right and who is wrong. It becomes a political issue, rather than a moral issue. With the deaths of innocent children and women on both sides. It is crucial for the world to intervene and address this war. Alice Walker in her poem talks about joining others in their suffering as being poor in spirit……..
