ENG 2230 Intersectional Reading Journal Entry 2 Answer

Intersectional Reading Journal Entry

The literary text of choice for the assignment is Boland’s “In Her Own Image” which looks into the representation of women. The identity of an individual is important to them, and more often than not it happens that this identity is not easy to discern. Out there, people struggle with identity to a great extent. At times, it is the biological identity, other times it is cultural, religious, political, or even professional identities. These struggles can be mentally draining, and they are a primary cause of concern for many people. The literary work by Boland illustrates these struggles from the perspective of women, who have always struggled to rise up and move away from the shadow of men. For every step they make, there has to be a gender comparison and whether they have become their own person or not. It is still a case that is very prevalent in society today
