Week 2 – Discussion
For this week’s discussion, I listened to the “The Danger of a Single Story” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Chimamanda related the “Single Story” to the ideas and misconceptions we have about certain cultures, places and things. She starts out telling how we often at times hear or read something and we make that one impression a realistic view of what that culture is. Such as when she first started writing: “All my characters were white and blue-eyed and they played in the snow” (TED, 2009, 00:57). Because these were the types of books that she was reading growing up; this was her view what life was outside of Nigeria in America and Britain……
