MGT 2120 Unit 1 : Tools and Techniques Answer
MGT 2120 Section 700 Tool & Techniques Discussion
Experience has shown in my career that both classical and behavioral perspectives are often used in providing the most effective leadership.
My first leadership role came about in college, my first go around in the late 70s. I was working in a phone center, with flexible hours and remote work. This position worked well for the class and studying.
I was meeting goals individually, my supervisor asked if I would come into the office setting and manage the group. The call center setting was stagnant in their production, despite attractive bonuses for performance. As I read about the Hawthorne Studies in our classroom text by Ricky Griffin, I realize that the acceptable levels were set and the workers slacked off at that point to avoid overproducing.
