Despite operating and presenting a picture of a huge and massive company, there was too much fraud behind the scenes that could no longer be sustained (Haswell & Evans, 2018). What the company referred to as special-purpose entities (SPEs) were nothing but acts of balancing the books. The company failed miserably.
